In a time of harvest and plenty for most Americans, we pause to reflect on the plight of millions of Americans and tens of millions of people throughout the world who go hungry each day.  We rededicate ourselves to help solve this crying moral issue and to find ways to feed the hungry.

The Interfaith Initiative of Santa Barbara welcomes John Teton, Director of the International Food Security Treaty Organization.  His vivid, compelling multi-media talk will help us to understand the causes and effects of this critical hunger crisis and what we can do to help solve it.

Mr. Teton’s presentation is titled “THE INTERFAITH MOONSHOT: The Calling of the IFST Mission to End Hunger” and will include the first large-screen viewing in the USA of the 2016 animated short film about the IFST, Thunder Head Clearing, produced by Mr. Teton’s Earthlight Pictures with an international crew of artists. This is the first Santa Barbara area presentation of IFST since a 2001 event at UCSB that drew 400 people.

Representatives from Santa Barbara’s diverse faith community will remind us of our shared religious and spiritual responsibility work with local, national and international organizations to eliminate hunger locally and globally.  Local hunger-focused organizations are invited invited to share their materials describing their important efforts.
