Doors open at 6:30pm, Dinner at 6:45, Program at 7:30

You are warmly invited to join us for an interfaith dialogue to discuss Pope Francis’ resounding call for environmental action. This dinner meeting is being organized as a direct response to the papal encyclical “Laudato Si” which was broadly distributed by the Catholic Church in 2015.

Following a simple soup dinner, newly appointed Auxiliary Bishop Robert Barron of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will be our lead speaker. He will summarize the key points of Pope Francis’ message highlighting the themes presented in the encyclical, and why it is now imperative for all faith traditions to collaborate on a coordinated response to the significant environmental challenges of our time. Bishop Barron will also emphasize the disproportionate impact that our consumptive lifestyle practices have on the poor and less privileged.

There will be a panel discussion following Bishop Barron’s presentation, with other faith traditions represented by Rev Stephen Jacobsen, Imam Yama Niazi, Fr. Larry Gosslein, and Prof. Ines Talamantez, UCSB Religious Studies Department, Native American Religious Traditions.  Time permiting, there will also be an opportunity for questions from attendees.

Doors will open at 6:30pm and the program will begin at 7:30pm. Cost will be $20 per person, $15 for students and seniors. Please register online at the following link:
